Professional specialized in infection control. Coordinates infection control matters with other disciplines. Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates a comprehensive infection control program for the hospital. Assists employee health with exposures and illnesses. May also under employee health provide professional nursing services to employees according.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to analyze, research data as related to transmission of infection. Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills. Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends/methodologies and Employee Health Practices as it applies.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School or degree in Epidemiology.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: BSN or master’s in related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years nursing experience or 1-2 years in acute care infection control.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 5 years nursing experience in acute care, 1-2 years nursing experience in infection control, or epidemiology experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arizona. if RN
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: EP II as given by APIC during first year of employment or equivalent certification
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: CIC (certification in Infection Control) should be obtained within 2 years of hire. Member APIC.
SUPERVISES: May supervise an Administrative Assistant.
