Registered Nurse – PCU

Reporting to the Director of ICU/PCU and/or designated supervisors and charge nurses, responsibilities include assessments, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation and documentation of adult and geriatric patients. Additional accountabilities include counseling and education for patients and families. Overall responsibility is for the nursing care of patients and for maintaining standards of nursing practice and optimal outcomes, including the supervision of all categories of nursing personnel. RN must calculate and titrate vasoactive drugs used in the ICU in response to changing patient condition. Additionally, the candidate must be able to interpret cardiac arrhythmias and intervene appropriately, including alerting physician to significant changes; is able to perform ACLS interventions competently including external pacing, cardioversion and medication administration.

Essential Job Duties:

Care provider must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient’s age group. Care provider must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span; must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed by that patient population. Candidate must be competent to monitor the patient undergoing procedural sedation.

Job Requirements: 

Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area (BSP), circumference and volume.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
One (1) year PCU/stepdown experience in an acute care facility preferred

Registered Nurse with current California RN license
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
BSN preferred

Base Salary – $49,500 to $74,100
